Guerilla warfare: Akeredolu imposes curfew on Ikare
There appears to be attempts to invade Ondo State by gunmen through guerrilla warfare tactics. Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has been compelled to respond to the ugly situation on Tuesday by imposing a 24 hours curfew with immediate effect in the part of state that mayhem broke out, Ikare, Headquarters of Akoko Northeast Local Government Area.
The state government had received security reports and intelligence about the killings in Ikare in the past 12 hours. The reports indicated that there have been sporadic gunshots in the town, wherein several people have been killed.
The state government has ordered security operatives in the state, particularly, the Police and Amotekun to fully enforce the curfew imposed and oversee total compliance.
The government also solicited the cooperation of traditional rulers, opinion, and religious leaders for the restoration of peace in the community.
The identity of the gunmen is yet to be made public; neither has the cause of the pandemonium been revealed at the time of this report.
