How Police tracked, outwitted cultists who sexually molested Tik Tok user
Police authorities in Edo state have given details on how operatives were able to track and arrest three suspected cultists who assaulted and sexually molested a Tik Tok user, Olivia for mimicking NBM ‘prayers, songs and slangs.
The victim, whose whereabouts was unknown, was taken to an uncompleted building in a street along Covenant Road, where they stripped and tortured her.
Footage of a video which they shared on social media, showed the suspects interrogating the lady, as they hit and sexually molested her, even as she explained to her captors that she learned about NBM activities while in a relationship with a guy.
The command, through its spokesman, Bello Kontongs, a Superintendent of Police (SP), in a press statement, stated that the suspects were arrested after a video of how the assault took place went viral.

Kontongs said: “Following the viral video clip where some young men were seen assaulting and dehumanising a young lady, the Commissioner of Police, Phillip Aliyu Ogbadu, directed a discreet investigation and intelligence-based approach to unravel those behind the dastardly act.
“During the cause of information and intelligence gathering, the following suspects were arrested at different locations in Benin City: They are Omozejele John ‘M’ (29years) arrested on 26/09/2021 at about 2000hrs at Uteh Community area of Upper Mission Extension, Benin City; Smart Ogbeide ‘M’ (29years) was arrested on the 27/09/2021 at about 2130hrs along Paulingo Brothel, Uteh Community Upper Mission Extension Benin City; while Tajudeen Afesume ‘M’ (30years) was arrested in his hideout at Owina Quarters, Uteh Community, Upper Mission Extension, Benin City.
“The three suspects arrested have all confessed to the crime and further confessed to being members of Aye secret cult. They are presently cooperating with police investigations and are already providing useful information that will lead to the arrest of other cult members on the run.”

Edo police commissioner, according to the spokesman, directed that the suspects be charged to court, vowing that cult groups and other criminal elements would not be allowed to operate in the Southsouth state.
Recall that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Edo State Police Command had earlier arrested one Smart, who is said to be a member of the Neo-Black Movement (NBM) popularly known as Aye Confraternity or Axe Men in connection with the said assault.
