How Tinubu’s words about fighting dirty can make him lose supporters
The APC National Leader and Presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu said he is ready to do whatever is needed to achieve his “lifelong ambition” to become Nigeria’s president. According to a statement made by him during his visit to Ibadan on Sunday, he said, “I’m out to become President of Nigeria. No intimidation, no blackmail can stop me.”
He further noted that “he has read about a Greek Philosopher who says, if you want to fight a pig, you must be ready to be smeared” and he declared that, “he is ready to fight dirty.” His statement had raised countless questions as to what he meant by fighting dirty to become the President of Nigeria. The likes of Reno Omokri has also taken to Twitter to share his views on Bola Tinubu’s statement and according to Reno, Nigeria doesn’t need dirty politics.
Furthermore, such statements coming out of the APC presidential aspirant could make him lose supporters. Here below are some of the ways his statements could make him lose supporters;
1. Nigeria is already facing numerous problems and bloodshed due to Boko Haram and other forms of insurgents in the country. As a Presidential aspirant, people look up to him to speak on how to improve the country and reform the system. Speaking on fighting dirty just to achieve his presidential aim could send the wrong signal to his supporters because no one will support any form of violence in this country current state.
2. This statement can be used against him by the opposition party in different ways and also use as a medium to persuade his supporters to reject any form of dirty politics in Nigeria.
