I will love to do more than other players – Ighalo
Super Eagles and Shanghai Shenhua of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has submitted that the two matches for the Eagles against Seychelles in the AFCON qualifier and Egypt in an international friendly, will help the team as they look to have a good tournament in Egypt later this year during the AFCON, National Daily learnt.
Ighalo is part of the 23 man team invited for both fixtures, after just completing a move from relegated Changchung Yatai to Shanghai Shenhua just before the start of the new CSL season.
Ighalo added that he and the current Eagles squad will want to do better than players who have represented the country before them, as having a great tournament in Egypt is uppermost on every player’s mind.
He explained that theye want to compete, we want to do better than what the Eagles before us has done in the past, I just want us to keep the concentration level high, and who knows everything is possible.
Nigeria have already qualified for the 2019 Afcon scheduled for Egypt in June after finishing and start preparation with a clash against the Pharaohs four days after they take on minnows Seychelles.
All the invited players, alongside technical and backroom crew, are expected to report in the Delta State capital on Monday, 18th March 2019.
