Igbo won’t secede if they get President in 2023 – Umahi
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, South-East Nigeria, on Saturday affirmed that the Igbo nation will not secede from the country if they get the President in 2023. Umahi, hosting APC Governors at his country home, Uburu, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State, stated that contrary to wide misconception, Igbo people are real bridge builders across the country, and will never separate from Nigeria if they get to the president in 2023. He maintained that a President of the country from the Igbo nation will not break up Nigeria.
The APC governors from the north who visited Governor Umahi on Christmas day include visitors include Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum; Governor Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State; former Governor Saminu Turaki of Jigawa State, including Chairman of Tetfund, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam.
Meanwhile, the preparations for the APC national convention scheduled for February 2022 are intensifying and overtures are being made during the festive period for new alliances for the emergence of the new national chairman. It was, however, not clear if this was the mission of the APC northern governors that visited Governor Umahi in Ebonyi State on Christmas day.
