In a decisive and history-making intervention against educational inequality in West Africa, the Inner-City Mission for Children, the humanitarian arm of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI), has commissioned a world-class, tuition-free school in Monrovia, Liberia—a strategic step in its rapidly growing campaign to eradicate child poverty and educational exclusion across Africa.

This landmark event not only amplifies COFI’s unwavering resolve to provide 100% free education, daily meals, school materials, and psychosocial support, but it also underscores a bold message: every child matters—and no child should be left behind.

A Nation Embraces a New Dawn

Liberia now joins a growing list of African countries witnessing COFI’s direct investment in the next generation.

The commissioning ceremony, themed “Every Child is Your Child,” stirred deep emotional resonance and collective commitment.

The event drew a formidable assembly of national dignitaries, global observers, development leaders, clergy, and local residents—all converging to champion the cause of Liberia’s underserved children.

Notably in attendance was Her Excellency, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former President of Liberia, whose presence and words further solidified the importance of this initiative in reshaping the nation’s developmental trajectory.

“This is more than a school—it is a bridge to transformation,” Madam Sirleaf asserted. “You are investing in the foundation of peace, prosperity, and dignity. I commend the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation and Inner-City Mission for your courageous and strategic investment in our children.”

She called for active public-private partnerships to replicate the Inner-City Mission model across the country—cementing it as a benchmark for sustainable, scalable, and impactful education reform.

A Message from Heaven, Delivered with Conviction

Delivering a commanding keynote, Pastor Omoh Alabi, Director of the Inner-City Mission, issued a clarion call to conscience:

“Every child is your child. That hungry, homeless child with no books or shoes—that child is your responsibility and mine,” she declared with fierce urgency. “This school proves that love can build. And we will not stop—not until every inner-city child in Africa is seen, valued, and given a future worth living.”

Her message, filled with moral clarity, positioned the initiative as not just charity, but an ethical and spiritual obligation.

Representing COFI and the Central Executive Council of the Loveworld NationPastor Ambrose Isesele further emphasized the divine mandate behind the mission:

“We are not here by coincidence. This school is heaven-backed. Our President, Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome, has shown us through both teaching and example that every child matters. And through this school, we echo that divine conviction across Liberia and beyond.”

Government Commits to Collaborative Support

The voice of the government was also clear and encouraging. Hon. Gbeme Horace Kollie, speaking for the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, commended the school’s establishment as a turning point in child-focused development:

“This is what’s possible when vision, compassion, and leadership converge. The government stands ready to collaborate and support this effort,” she affirmed.

She also signaled an interest in aligning the school’s framework with national education and child protection strategies to create a unified system of support for vulnerable children.

A Moment of Generational Impact

A particularly moving moment came when the first cohort of enrolled students received their full educational kits—uniforms, shoes, bags, books, and supplies—all at no cost. For many parents in attendance, this was a moment they had never dared to dream of.

“This is not just a school. It is a miracle,” said Martha Kolleh, a mother of three, visibly emotional. “For the first time, I know my children have a real chance.”
