Insecurity: Uneducated, poor children are available for use by anybody – Gumi
A renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, at a peace building symposium for reintegration of former Boko Haram terrorists into society in Maiduguri, Born State, berated political leaders in Nigeria for keeping millions of children out of school, subjecting them to abject poverty. The Islamic scholar stated that the poor and uneducated are available for use by anybody and for any purpose.
Gumi emphasized that the uneducated children are available for recruitment into the Nigerian military. It was, however, not clear if Gumi at the reintegration symposium in Maiduguri was recommending the conscription of the Boko Haram terrorists, after their reintegration into the society, in the Nigerian military, or the jobless Nigerians on the streets.
He protested that there is no justice in Nigeria.
Gumi had stated: “Whoever has any interest in our country, we have made available for him soldiers he can conscript.
“So, why do we leave our children uneducated? Why is education not for everybody? Why do we leave our population poor?
“Some Nigerians are riding private jets while some Nigerians don’t know where to put their children in school.
“There is social injustice. If you go to the court system, justice is not there. The fabric of power is broken down. So, the children are there to be used by anybody.”
