Jonathan aide fires back as American diplomat hammers Patience, reps over Magu arrest
Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has carpeted a former United States Ambassador to Nigeria for insulting ex-First Lady Patience Jonathan whom the diplomat described as arrogant.
Omokri said John Campbell is a consultant for some of President Muhammadu Buhari associates, and so he would not be surprised if the American slagged off Patience.
Campell, a member of the US Council of Foreign Relations, wrote in his blog poston Sunday, explaining that the House of Reps committee were Christians and beneficiaries of the Jonathan’s wasteful government mobilised to harass EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
The rep committee on public petitions has issued an arrest warrant on Magu for not showing up following Patience petition to the House. She alleged the commission has been harassing her and her family, freezing her accounts in about six banks.
But Omokri, in a statement to Premium Times, said Campbell was trying to divert attention from corruption allegations currently rocking the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation under the petroleum ministry Buhari sits over as minister.
“It is most unfortunate that the former US Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, who is now a consultant to certain Nigerians and a self-confessed admirer of President Muhammadu Buhari, would again insult Nigerians with his procured opinions meant to divert the public from the monumental $26 billion corruption scam recently uncovered in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation of which President Muhammadu Buhari is the supervising minister,” said Omokri.
