Justice Crack released after weeks in detention over viral military welfare posts (Watch video)
Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” has reportedly regained his freedom weeks after his arrest over controversial social media posts concerning the welfare and feeding conditions of Nigerian soldiers.
Justice Crack was arrested in late April 2026 after sharing and amplifying complaints allegedly made by military personnel regarding poor feeding, welfare challenges, and conditions faced by troops at the frontline in the country’s ongoing security operations.
The arrest generated widespread reactions on social media, with supporters and civil rights advocates raising concerns about freedom of expression and the treatment of whistleblowers and online activists.
Following his arrest, the Nigerian Army confirmed that the activist was taken into custody, accusing him of attempting to incite dissatisfaction among soldiers and violating the Armed Forces’ social media regulations.
Military authorities maintained that his online activities could undermine discipline and morale within the ranks, especially at a time when troops are engaged in various counterterrorism and internal security operations across the country.

After his arrest by military authorities, Justice Crack was later handed over to civil authorities and subsequently arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on alleged cybercrime-related offences linked to the viral videos and online publications.
The court later ordered his remand pending further proceedings on the matter.
Although details surrounding his release remain unclear as of the time of filing this report, news of his regained freedom has continued to circulate widely online, with many supporters welcoming the development.
The case had sparked debates across Nigeria over the balance between national security concerns and citizens’ rights to raise issues relating to governance, accountability, and the welfare of security personnel.
Justice Crack became widely known on social media for his outspoken commentary on national issues, security matters, and governance-related concerns, attracting a large following online.
