Korean Govt. boosts rural electrification in Nigeria with $12m
The Government of South Korea has boosted rural electrification in Nigeria with the sum of $12.4 million in aid. The fund is to be disbursed for the construction of a solar mini-grid project, which include the mini grids in non- electrified rural communities in the satellite towns around Abuja.
The mini-grid project is to cover the gap in the rising energy demand and guarantee stable power supply in rural communities across Nigeria.
The foreign aid is a green aid project of the Korean government official Development Assistance programme for Nigeria.
The Nigerian and Korean government signed an Agreement on August 27, 2018, providing a basis for technological support and related policies to develop the Nigeria Electrification project (NEP) supported by the World Bank.
