LASEMA responded to 8,585 incidents in Lagos since 2019

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reported responding to a total of 8,585 incidents in Lagos State since 2019.
The Permanent Secretary of the agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, made this known in a statement released to the Press on Monday in Lagos.
“In line with its statutory duties to Respond, Rescue, Recover and ensure Disaster Risk Reduction, LASEMA has attended to 8,585 incidents under the leadership of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration from 2019 to date.”
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu detailed that between January 1, 2024, and April 2025, LASEMA responded to 2,143 incidents, comprising 1,675 incidents in 2024 and 468 incidents in the first four months of 2025.
He emphasized that these figures highlight the agency’s dedication to swiftly addressing emergencies and ensuring public safety within Lagos State and its surrounding areas.
He further broke down the 121 cases attended to by LASEMA on April 25th, with road accidents accounting for the highest number (40), followed by fire disasters (25), and truck tanker incidents (22).
Medical emergencies accounted for 13 cases, while other events such as windstorms, powerline issues, public complaints, assaults, and water well incidents totaled 12 cases.
Building collapse incidents recorded six cases, and explosions accounted for two cases during the reviewed period.

Regarding local government emergency trends in the specified month, Alimosho and Kosofe Local Government Areas recorded the highest number of incidents with 16 cases each. Eti-Osa and Ikeja followed with 13 cases each, while Mushin recorded nine cases.
Lagos Island and Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Areas each recorded eight cases.
Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu reiterated that these statistics demonstrate LASEMA’s unwavering commitment to promptly addressing emergencies and safeguarding public safety across Lagos State and its environs.
