‘Make sure you eat while you are in prison’ – Shehu Sani reacts to Abba Kyari’s arrest
When it comes to social commentaries, Senator Shehu Sani has become a household name.
A quick visit to the former Lawmaker’s social media handles will reveal that the man does have a funny way of reacting to serious national issues that often leaves his followers in smiles and deep thought at the same time.
It was, therefore, not surprising, to see him react to the recent arrest and detention of former Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari.
You may recall that Kyari was recently arrested by the Police after he was declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over his alleged involvement in cocaine trafficking.
The agency is accusing Kyari of working with a notorious drug cartel trafficking illegal substances along the Brazil-Ethiopian route to Nigeria.
Reacting to the news, Senator Sani Shehu took to his Twitter handle to give Kyari some tips on how to survive in prison. The former Lawmaker told the former DCP not to reject food while in jail, adding that no matter what happens, he (Kyari) should make sure he eats.
Judging from his statement, it appears the Senator was drawing from his experiences in the 90s when he was jailed by past military regimes alongside other human rights activists.
It’s also quite interesting to see that at a time when many Nigerians are expressing shock over the weight of the allegations being leveled against one of the country’s finest law enforcement agents, Shehu is seeing things from an unusual angle.
