MC Oluomo defends ‘Kundusi’ comment, flaunts children’s US, UK citizenship
The President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has addressed the growing ridicule among Nigerians regarding his recent “kundusi” comment.
Speaking to union delegates in a video that went viral on Tuesday, Akinsanya acknowledged his limited formal education and potential difficulties in English expression.
However, he proudly stated that he had ensured his children received quality education, resulting in them becoming citizens of both the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
The union leader’s “kundusi” gaffe occurred while he was attempting to commend the union members in the Federal Capital Territory for their good work.
In his defense, Akinsanya recounted his journey, noting that he began his career in the transport sector as a bus conductor instead of pursuing formal schooling.
Addressing the “kundusi” incident directly, he said, “‘Kundusi!’ What happened? Grammars are too much.
Grammar won’t finish Nigeria, I might not understand the English language, but I understand Yoruba.”

The union leader also emphasized his rise through the ranks, stating, “I started as a bus conductor, then as a treasurer of a unit of NURTW, to unit chairman, to branch deputy treasurer, to branch treasurer, to branch chairman, to state chairman, and then to national president.
I worked hard to get here. I am not educated.”
He then questioned his critics, asking, “So they are mocking me for saying ‘kundusi’, is my child not Qudus?
You that you are educated, what did you do?”
Akinsanya’s children have previously defended their father against social media criticism regarding his language use.
In 2022, one of his sons, known as King West on Instagram, challenged those who labeled his father a lout, emphasizing the care and protection his father provided.
