Ned Nwoko advocates developing, implementing effective strategies to enhance border security, socio-economic stability
Senator (Dr.) Prince Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, at a 2-day interactive workshop hosted by the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration, in collaboration with Global Gold Consult advocated the need for developing and implementing effective strategies to enhance border security and socio-economic stability in the country.
The Senator decried the porous boundaries at Nigeria’s borders, from the North to the South, attributing this to security and socio-economic crises in the country.
He added the participants deliberated on the need for the National Boundary Commission to intensify its efforts in resolving and defining interstate boundary disputes.
Ned Nwoko asserted that “clearly defined and demarcated boundaries are vital for peaceful coexistence and cross-border cooperation.”
He stated that it is crucial for the commission to enhance field investigations to achieve proper boundary demarcation and prevent conflicts.

“We also discussed the need for the National Boundary Commission to intensify its efforts in resolving and defining interstate boundary disputes. Clearly defined and demarcated boundaries are vital for peaceful coexistence and cross-border cooperation. It is crucial for the commission to enhance field investigations to achieve proper boundary demarcation and prevent conflicts.
“In the South-South region, where I am from, our coastal lines are notably porous, which has unfortunately facilitated issues like oil theft. This issue is not isolated to my region but affects the entire country.
“Recognizing these challenges is a critical first step, but the real work lies in developing and implementing effective strategies to enhance border security and socio-economic stability. This seminar is timely and essential for addressing these widespread concerns.”
