Nigeria can’t be handed over to “sick leaders” in 2023 – LP
National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure has advised the electorates not to hand over Nigeria to “sick leaders” in 2023.
Abure who revealed this on Saturday during the LP presidential campaign flag-off in Lafia, the Nasarawa capital, said the challenges faced by the country is as a result of poor leadership.
“Our presidential candidate didn’t go to the hospital; he is strong. Our presidential candidate is not sick; the vice-presidential candidate is not sick. Today, the country is sick. It is sick from insecurity; it is sick from unemployment; the economy is not working.
“If you put everything together, the country is sick and we cannot hand it over to sick people. We need vibrant, young, energetic people who can be awake day and night to solve the problems of the country and we have that person.
“We also need somebody who has character, integrity — somebody that will not take our money abroad.”
Meanwhile, the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi has also revealed there won’t be blame games involving past governments if he is elected.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the LP presidential campaign in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state, Obi said he will immediately tackle the nation’s challenges if elected president, instead of making excuses.
“Nasarawa will be a great state again. You will drive from here to Abuja on a good road. These are things we will do. You will see governance; you will see people who are committed — not people coming to steal your money,” he said.
“We are ready for the job. We are not going to give excuses; we are not going to start telling you what we saw when we entered. Two of us are young, educated. We can stand, and we are not worried. We will feed you.
“The government we are going to form will be a government of youths and women. It will no longer be a government of old people. Government is not a retirement home; it is not an old people’s home. We will form a government that is energetic.
“We are ready for the job. We know your problems. We will provide fertilizer for farmers. We will support farming. We will remove Nigeria from consumption to production; by that, people will have jobs. Support us, go and start campaigning for us, for your future. Don’t listen to these people who are sharing money.”
