Nigeria’s military intelligence agency declares former officer wanted for TV interview
Retired Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi who exploded on Channels TV during the week is now in trouble.
The former intelligence officer revealed how the sponsors of Boko Haram are perpetuating insecurity in the north, and President Muhammadu Buhari refuses to hammer them, including those in his government and party APC.
According to Sahara Reporters, the Defence Intelligence Agency has invited Olawunmi to Abuja.
“The agency has declared retired Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi wanted for spilling the beans over Boko Haram sponsors in the Buhari regime,” the online news platform reported August 28.
“They asked him to come with his international passport on Tuesday to the DIA office in Abuja.”
The late NSA Andrew Azzazi revealed a similar finding in 2011, under former President Goodluck Jonathan-led government.
Azzazi blamed the Boko Haram terrorism on the former ruling party PDP. And Jonathan fired him.
The row over Olawunmi’s interview on Channels TV came after Benue Gov. Samuel Ortom also granted an interview in which he accused Buhari of Fulanizing and Islamizing Nigeria.
The TV presenters were invited by the NBC to Abuja on Thursday—to answer a query on their violation of Nigeria’s broadcasting codes.
Olawunmi in the interview claimed the identified sponsors of Boko Haram in 2012 are now in government.
Implicated in his revelation are former CDS Gabriel Olonisakin, former COAS Tukur Buratai, and his late successor Ibrahim Attahiru.
Olawunmi served on a special panel between 2016 and 2017 before he retired.
