NIMC warns Nigerians of strict access rules for NIN Self-Service modification portal
“Applicants for the NIN Data Modification must log in using the same browser and device originally used to register the account
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued a fresh advisory, alerting Nigerians to adhere strictly to access protocols for its self-service modification portal used to update National Identification Number (NIN) records.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the Commission explained that each self-service account is permanently linked to the specific browser and device used during initial registration. Any attempt to access the portal through a different browser or device may result in a denial of access.
“Applicants for the NIN Data Modification must log in using the same browser and device originally used to register the account,” NIMC stated.
“Clearing your browser cache can also reset the session and potentially lock you out.”
The Commission further noted that once a device-browser combination becomes locked, users are limited to five (5) unlock attempts. After exceeding this limit, no additional requests will be processed.

NIMC emphasized that these access restrictions are necessary to safeguard the integrity and security of the portal and to prevent identity breaches and unauthorized changes.
The agency is urging all users to follow the guidelines strictly to avoid avoidable disruptions or delays in accessing the service. Individuals experiencing technical difficulties are advised to contact NIMC through its customer support channel at:
