Observer Group detects electoral flaws, seeks review of Electoral Act
An election observer group, the Integrity Friends for Truth and Peace Initiative, in its review of the 2019 presidential and national assembly elections appears to have detected flaws in the electoral. Thus, the group has called for a review of the Electoral Act to provide 30 years jail term for electoral violence culprits and their sponsors in Nigeria.
The Integrity Friends for Truth and Peace Initiative in its preliminary report on the 2019 presidential and national assembly elections presented in Abuja on Monday, believes that violence may be the biggest albatross of Nigeria’s electoral process hence the need for stiffer penalties. The relative fragile unity of Nigeria was also in focus at the public presentation of the observer group.
