Ojajuni leads on-site inspection in Ijebu-Ode, strengthens security presence
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has conducted a follow-up on-site assessment of communities and schools affected by the recent environmental incident along the Agoro/Okunowa Road axis of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The visit, which took place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, was aimed at evaluating the situation and strengthening security presence in the impacted areas.
Ojajuni was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Muritala Bolanle, the Officer in Charge of the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, and other emergency response stakeholders.
During the assessment, the police team visited affected institutions, including Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, and other impacted communities within Ijebu-Ode to assess safety conditions and reassure residents.
Following the inspection, the Commissioner ordered the immediate deployment of additional Police EOD personnel, surveillance teams, tactical operatives, and members of the School Protection Squad to bolster security coverage around schools and residential areas.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Ogun State Commissioners for Education, Environment, and Health. Joint sensitisation sessions were held with residents, teachers, parents, students, and other community stakeholders to educate them on precautionary safety measures and appropriate emergency response procedures.
Addressing participants during the session, Ojajuni emphasised the need for calmness, vigilance, and strict adherence to established emergency protocols, assuring the public that security agencies were working closely with relevant authorities to contain the situation.
Residents were advised to contact the Ogun State Government Emergency Call Centre on 08112000033 in the event of any emergency related to the incident. Members of the public were also urged to assist affected persons by helping them breathe through wet cloths where necessary and to immediately convey victims to the nearest hospital for urgent medical attention.
The Ogun State Police Command reiterated that the situation remains under control, noting that monitoring, surveillance, and coordinated response operations are ongoing to ensure the safety of lives and property across the affected areas.
