Pastor Tunde Bakare visits Buhari at State House, Abuja
Pastor Tunde Bakare, founder of the Citadel Global Community Church (formerly Latter Rain Assembly), on Friday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at trey State House, Abuja. both political allies held closed doors meeting during the visit.
Pastor Bakare in a media interaction after the closed-door meeting with President Buhari stated that restructuring is possible in Nigeria without violence, adding that zoning debate is immature.
Bakare noted that Nigeria is better off as one nation, saying that such unity must be based on equity, justice, fair play, and the rule of law.
Bakare expressed disapproval of the debate on power shift and zoning, saying it as politically immature.
Pastor Bakare stated that zoning has never benefited the region where the president or the beneficiary emerged from. He was of the view that electing a leader should be based on what the candidate has to offer irrespective of ethnic or region identity. He stated that the best Nigerians should present themselves for elections.
Pastor Bakare also advocated the adoption of electronic voting to ensure that no Nigerian of eligible voting age, including those in the Diaspora, are disenfranchised.
The Pastor commended the Senate for reversing its decision on the electronic transmission of election results, saying that the country should go one step further and adopt electronic voting.
Pastor Bakare said that his plan on contesting the 2023 presidential election has been made known to only President Buhari at the meeting. He maintained that he would contest if God and Nigerians wants him to.
Bakare had recently advocated the need for Nigerians to rise and take the country back. He further declared the “Nigeria for Nigerians” Movement which he volunteered to lead and ensure that Nigerians take back Nigeria from bad leadership.
