PDP NEC appoints three-man reconciliation committee for Edo
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed a three-man committee to intervene and reconcile the warring party members in Edo State.
National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement in Abuja, explained that “this is part of the resolutions reached at the 95th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Party held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.”
Members of the Committee include
Governor Samuel Ortom – Chairman
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa – Member
Governor Bala Mohammed – Member.
The Edo PDP has been in lingering crisis after the victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the governorship election on the state over a year ago. The governor has been insisting on taking over control of the party, but the prominent PDP leaders who kept the party alive over the years of being in opposition in the state also insist on having a stake in the administration of the party. There is suspicion that Governor Obaseki may be plotting to hijack the Edo PDP for the governorship ambition of the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.
