Plumber, 48, in court over alleged criminal breach of trust
A 48-year-old plumber, Isiaka Garuba, on Wednesday appeared in a Gwagwalada Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged criminal breach of trust.
The police charged Garuba, who resides in Sabo Iddo Airport road, Abuja, with two-count charges bordering on criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abudullahi Tanko, told the court that Precious Ohia, of Aco Estate, Airport road, reported the matter at Iddo Police Station on Feb. 8.
Tanko said that Ohia gave Garuba the sum of N70, 000 to assist her get a shop, but he absconded with the money.
He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, who pleaded guilty to the charges, however, said that the money was given to him by one Nonso, and not the complainant.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Aliyu Shafa, ordered for further investigation into the matter; and admitted the defendant to a N50, 000 bail with one surety in like sum.
Shafa said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until April 26 for hearing.
