Police dispel rumour of Boko Haram letter bomb in Lagos school
The Lagos State Police Command has dispelled the rumours making the rounds that Boko Haram elements planted a letter bomb inside a toilet in a college.
The Lagos state police spokesperson, DSP Joe Offor said in a statement Friday evening that “Lagos State Police Command received information that a letter was dropped inside the toilet of the Principal of Metropolitan College Isols that certain Boko-Haram elements” have planted bombs in the four corners of the college.
It was learnt that it caused a great panic and trepidation leading up to the Command dispatching the Anti-Bomb Disposal Unit to the School and a thorough sweeping of the entire college premises without discovery such bomb.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Owoseni also visited the School in the company of Counter Terrorism Unit of the Force to build their confidence.
He reassured the College Community of their safety. Pamphlets on security tips were shared to the Teachers and Students of the Institution.
Meanwhile, the Command wishes to reiterate its earlier appeal to members of the public to be vigilant and conscious of their environment and report any suspicious objects to the Police.
“Once again, the residents of Lagos are assured of adequate security of life and property” calling on them to go about their lawful businesses without any fear.
