Police expose shocking fake kidnapping scheme by lovers to extort money
In a bizarre twist of deceit, the Delta State Police Command has uncovered a plot involving two lovers who staged a fake kidnapping to extort a ransom from the girl’s parents.
The incident came to light on December 30, 2024, when Princess, the female involved, visited her boyfriend, Prince, and the couple devised a plan to deceive her family.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, Princess instructed Prince to call her parents and falsely claim she had been abducted. He then demanded a ransom of ₦2,000,000 from her distraught mother.
SP Edafe shared details of the case via a tweet, revealing the shocking nature of the scheme: “The girl told her boyfriend to call her parents and claim she had been kidnapped. He did, and demanded ₦2,000,000.
The girl’s mother, distraught, reported the case to the command, and we immediately swung into action.”
