Police in Bayelsa, denies reports of attack on Ex-President Jonathan

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Butswat Asinim  has denied the reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan escaped death in an attack in Bayelsa State.
Even as Lt.Col Isa Ado, the spokesman of Operation Pulo Shield, a joint military operation deployed to the Niger Delta to protect oil facilities, dismissed the reports.
It was however gathered that some unemployed youths had followed the convoy of the ex-president to solicit cash, only to be arrested by Mr. Jonathan’s security detail.
The police spokesman said the youths thought Mr. Jonathan’s convoy may have been that of a governorship aspirant.
“The youths mistook his convoy for a governorship candidate engaging in campaigns,” Mr. Asinim said.
“But when they discovered on getting to the entrance of his house in Yenagoa that it was that of the President, they ran away. Some of them were arrested. They did not haul stones at the President’s convoy. They did not attack the convoy and no weapon was found on them,” he explained.
