Science Institute: Bauchi govt. donates land to NASENI
Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has donated land to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to establish a science institute.
Mohammed made the donation on Tuesday in Bauchi when Mohammed Haruna, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, visited him.
The governor described NASENI as an important agency in the development of science and technology in the country.
“With the fruition of the global village prediction, the importance of science and technology to human existence can no longer be over emphasised.
“Your agency has crucial roles to play in driving the nation’s science and technology development policies and programmes,” he said.
He urged the agency too woo Nigerian science experts abroad back home to support its activities.
“I have seen innovations and inventions by NASENI. I appreciate the way you establish partnerships and frontiers.
“You are doing so much to make Nigeria proud. Keep up the good works in the interest of the nation,” he said.
Earlier, Haruna, NASENI executive vice chairman, said that the agency had established its institutes in Enugu, Niger, Anambra, Kano, Ondo, Taraba, Kwara, Kogi and Osun states.
He expressed worries that the heavy equipment and machinery development institute billed for location in Bauchi had yet to be established.
“This institute was approved in 2001, it is supposed to be the hope of North-East, it has not been actualised till date.’’
The NASENI official urged the state government to give the needed partnership and support to ensure the speedy take-off of the science institute.
