Taliban renames Afghanistan
Following its take-over of Afghanistan after two decades of counter-terrorism operation the US and allied forces waged in Afghanistan, the Taliban has renamed the country.
The Asian country is now ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’.
In the wake of troop withdrawal by the US and UK starting from May and almost 90 percent complete, the Afghan forces, 300,000, crumbled as the Taliban forces, 80,000, advanced within weeks.
President Ashraf Ghani fled the country last week, saying the Taliban has overcome.
China was the first to open its diplomatic door to the Islamic fundamentalist government.
The US followed, with a condition, though—that the Taliban government should respect gender equality and denounce al-Qaeda.
The Taliban has indicated it will recognize women rights as much as Islam permits.
