Three important things you should know about the pregnancy line
Linea nigra or the pregnancy line is a vertical line that usually appears in pregnant women’s stomachs. This line is thicker and it can be easily noticeable. It does not have any effect. But if you’re having pain during pregnancy, try to visit a doctor, it can be more dangerous as you think. And don’t use any drugs that you are given by anyone, it’s also risky.
The following are other things that are associated with linea nigra, read them carefully below.
1. Reasons why linea nigra appear.
Linea nigra appears because of the high level of body hormones during pregnancy. Those hormones include progesterone and estrogen. Estrogen and melanocyte-stimulating hormone reacts on melanin cells (the pigment that gives color to the body). And it usually appears around the middle of the pregnancy. This linea alba (white line) is always on every woman’s body, it’s only when it darkens that it becomes visible and by that time, it is known as linglinea nigra.
Some pregnant women also develop deep patches on their faces, armpits, private part, and around their lower legs.
2. When will it disappear?
It usually disappears a few weeks after the pregnancy, and it may not disappear entirely in some women’s bodies. Sunscreen can help to fade linea nigra but visit your doctor because you use any cream, especially if you are breastfeeding. And don’t use wax to remove your hair, it can cause skin inflammation.
3. Can I avoid it?
The answer is no, since it is linked with hormones, it can’t be avoided. Like I said before, it’s painless and harmless.
Note: If you have a linea nigra in your first pregnancy, you have a high chance of having it in your future pregnancies.
Do you have this type of line when you were pregnant? Do you use any products to fade it? Please let us know your experience.
