COVID-19: Vaccination of health workers begins in Uwani general hospital Enugu

The vaccination of front line workers against COVID-19 kicks off  in Uwani General  Hospital, Enugu with some staff excited to have received it, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The officer in -charge who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that she was impressed with the responses from members of staff of the hospital  so far.

“We received 70 vial and each vial can be used to vaccinate 11 persons and so far, we have vaccinated 61 persons.

“Remember this vaccine for now is for the front line workers and 500 health workers are expected to take, though we are not forcing anyone.

“They will take this first dose now and come for the second dose after eight weeks,” she said.

She noted that no side effect or reaction had been recorded after taking the jab.

“Rumours about the vaccine is about individual preference, I have taken my own and nothing happened to me. I encourage others to toe my part,” she advised.

NAN reports that Enugu State Government received 65,400 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency
