Harry has moved to the third spot on the all-time EPL goal charts after scoring during Tottenham’s 2-1 win against Fulham on Saturday. The England captain recorded his fifth goal of the season, moving past former Red Devil striker Andy Cole (187) on the EPL list of players who have recorded the most goals since the English top flight took its current shape in 1992.

Kane can set his sights on outranking the second-placed Wayne Rooney, who holds a career record of 208 league goals in 491 matches playing for Manchester United and Everton. However, he still has a long way to go before outranking Alan Shearer, a Newcastle legend who has dominated the EPL all-time goal-scoring charts with a total of 260 goals recorded in 441 games.

Many fans looking at Harry Kane’s performance while betting on the EPL at Nigerian betting sites hope that the Tottenham star might be Alan Shearer as he’s the only active player among the top 10. The 29-year-old stands a solid chance at breaking the Shearer’s record during his career. In fact, there’s a strong possibility that Kane might rank second on the all-time goal-scoring list by the end of this season.

How did Harry Kane get here?

Harry Kane has played 288 premier league games to date, with 285 matches coming from Tottenham and three with Norwich City on loan at Carrow Road. Kane made his EPL debut at 18 years during the 2012/2013 season, only making four games during the whole season. He played three games for Norwich and one for Tottenham.

After his first four games, Kane upped that to ten league appearances, where he scored three goals the following season. Kane then firmly set a strong foothold in the league as Tottenham’s first-choice striker during their 2014/2015 campaign, where he upped his game in the number of goals he was recording.

Since the beginning of the 2014/2015 campaign up to last season, Harry Kane has averaged 23 EPL goals per season. His highest premier league tally was 30 goals during the 2017/2018 season, and his lowest was a respectable total of 17 goals during the 2018/2019 and 2021/2022 seasons.

During his career, Harry has won the EPL Golden Boot award for three times (2020/2021, 2016/2017 and 2015/2016). After recording the most assists, he was crowned as the Playmaker of the Season during the 2020/2021 season, proving he’s both creative and destructive.

Harry Kane also ranks as the second all-time goal scorer in Tottenham’s League football, outranking the 1960/1961 double winner Bobby Smith, who recorded 176 goals in 271 matches. Kane is only second to the great Jimmy Greaves, who recorded 220 goals in 321 matches.

Along with Smith and Greaves, Harry Kane is the only other player from Tottenham to score over 200 goals for the team in all their competitions. Smith retired with 208 goals in 317 matches, Kane recorded 252 goals in 391 games and Greaves with 266 goals after 379 matches.

When could Harry Kane overtake Shearer?

Harry Kane is getting closer to Shearer more than ever, although there’s still a 72-goal gap between them. Shearer recorded 260 goals in 441 EPL games before his early retirement at 35 years in 2006. However, Shearer also recorded 23 goals during the old First Division during his early days playing for Southampton before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 1992.

It will be a huge feat, but Kane has averaged 23 EPL goals since the 2014/2015 campaign. That means three more seasons maintaining this average would close the gap to at least ten goals by the beginning of the 2025/2026 season. Harry Kane also has the time to close that gap completely as he’s only 29 years old and commands a higher goal-per-game ratio than Shearer (0.65 to 0.59).
