FG resumes Abuja-Kaduna rail services on Monday after months of bandits attack

The federal government has concluded arrangement to resume rail services from Abuja to Kaduna on Monday after months of attack by bandits, who killed some passengers and kidnapped many others, who were later set free after negotiations.

The Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo, at the test-run of the rail line facility in preparation for resumption of rail services, disclosed that train services on the Abuja-Kaduna corridor will resume once passengers become accustomed to the new modes of operation introduced to ensure safety of their lives and property.

Sambo said that the new modes of operation include presentation of the National Identity Number (NIN) for acquisition of travel tickets.

The minister hinted on increase in transportation fares on resumption of services, attributing the increased cost to the contemporary economic realities in the country. He also said that there will be reduction in daily trips between Abuja and Kaduna, to ensure smooth operations.
