Bandits kill 36 military officers
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Abuja, at the biweekly briefing of the Defence Media Operations on Thursday, revealed that bandits killed 36 officers in Niger State, North Central Nigeria, in the war against terrorism.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, at the briefing, released a breakdown of casualties in the ambush of troops in Niger State and an evacuation helicopter that crashed on August 14, 2023.

Major General Edward Bubathat said that an investigation is still underway to determine the cause of the helicopter crash. He appealed that citizens should be wary of terrorists’ propaganda, urging people to be patriotic.
Bandits had ambushed troops in Zungeru, Niger State, killing gallant troops of the Nigerian Army.
A Nigerian Air Force MI-171 Helicopter, on evacuation mission, had also crashed on Monday in Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA), Niger State.
The Director Defence Media Operations, however, assured Nigerians that the military remain committed to restoring security in the country.
