In Nigeria, updating personal details on the National Identification Number (NIN) is often required due to reasons like job changes, lost phone numbers, or name corrections.

Historically, this involved lengthy waits at enrollment centers, but the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has now launched an online Self-Service Modifications portal to simplify the process.

The portal allows Nigerians to update details such as Name, Phone Number, Date of Birth, and Address from home.

However, this convenience comes with associated fees: updating the date of birth costs N16,340, while changes to phone numbers, names, or addresses are charged at approximately N1,522 each.
