FG meeting with ASUU postponed
The Federal Government has postponed its scheduled meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which was initially set for today.
ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke confirmed the postponement on Monday, stating that the meeting, originally planned by the Minister of Education last Friday, will now be held on Wednesday, August 28. No official explanation was given for the delay.
The meeting is crucial as public university professors have threatened a nationwide strike.
This decision comes after ASUU’s national executive council meeting at the University of Ibadan on August 19, 2024, where recommendations were adopted.

The union’s demands include improved professor welfare, increased university funding, and a halt to the proliferation of institutions across the nation.
The planned strike is a result of the Federal Government’s failure to implement the 2009 renegotiated agreement with ASUU.
