Israeli Major General leads airstrike on Iranian defense systems in historic mission
In a historic military operation, Israeli Air Force Major General Aviad Dagan, an active-duty IDF officer and seasoned F-16 pilot, participated in an airstrike on key Iranian defense sites.
Major General Aviad Dagan, originally a F-16 pilot, flew one of the dozens of fighter jets that participated in the historic event.
Major General Dagan also participated in the attack on the nuclear reactor in Syria.
Israel’s attacks in Iran destroyed air defense systems set up to protect several critical oil and petrochemical refineries, as well as the systems that secure a large gas field and a major port in southern Iran – this is what several sources told the newspaper.
The sites Israel targeted, according to the officials, included measures to protect the Bandar Imam Khomeini petrochemical complex, in Khuzestan province; in the large economic port of Bandar Imam Khomeini, adjacent to it; and in the refinery of Abadan.
Air defense systems were also attacked in Ilam province, at the refinery for the gas field, called Tanj Bijar, said the officials, one of them close to the Iranian oil ministry.
