Fubara summons Rivers Assembly members for crucial meeting
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally invited members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to a critical meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, March 10, at 10:00 AM.
The invitation was communicated through an official letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, on Sunday.
The letter, addressed to the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, outlined the agenda for the meeting, which comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent judgment.

According to the letter, Governor Fubara intends to discuss pressing legislative concerns, including providing a suitable venue for the Assembly’s sittings, settling all outstanding remuneration and allowances for lawmakers, and presenting the state budget for the fiscal year.
Other related matters aimed at fostering the development of Rivers State will also be on the agenda.
“The purpose of this meeting is to ensure smooth governance and legislative harmony in the state,” Governor Fubara stated, emphasizing that the discussions will be in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.
The urgency of this engagement follows the state Assembly’s recent 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Fubara, demanding the presentation of the 2025 budget.
This ultimatum came after the Supreme Court’s ruling, which was not in the governor’s favor, further intensifying political tensions within the state.
The outcome of this meeting is expected to significantly impact the state’s governance and the ongoing political developments in Rivers State.
Stakeholders and observers will be keenly watching for resolutions that could shape the future of the state’s administration.
