Marwa visits injured NDLEA officers, vows justice after violent Dawaki mob attack
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has visited two officers of the agency who are currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, following injuries sustained during a violent mob attack in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The injured officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, were attacked while participating in a raid on a notorious drug den in Dawaki on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Marwa, during a bedside visit to the officers on Monday, sympathised with them and assured them of the full support of the NDLEA management throughout their recovery process.

He stated that the agency would spare no effort in ensuring the officers receive the best medical attention until they are fully recovered and fit to resume duty.
“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” Marwa declared.
The NDLEA boss praised the officers for their courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment during the high-risk operation, describing their sacrifices in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse as invaluable to national security.
According to him, the agency remains proud of officers who continue to put their lives on the line to protect communities from the dangers of narcotics and criminal drug networks.

He also commended the NDLEA medical personnel and doctors at the National Hospital for their swift intervention and quality care, noting that their prompt response helped stabilise the injured officers.
Marwa further assured Nigerians that the agency remains fully committed to dismantling drug cartels and sanitising communities across the country despite violent resistance from criminal elements.
“The NDLEA will remain resolute and undeterred in its mandate to rid the country of illicit drugs and criminal networks associated with drug trafficking,” he said.
The visit underscores the agency’s continued support for officers injured in the line of duty as anti-drug operations intensify nationwide.
