Adeleke not in charge of Osun, sister, brother running State – Sowore

The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is not fully in control of the affairs of the state.

Sowore claimed that the governor’s sister and elder brother wield significant influence over the administration, alleging that the state is effectively being run by members of Adeleke’s family.

The AAC candidate made the allegation on Thursday while appearing on News Central TV’s breakfast programme.

Sowore also questioned some of the achievements attributed to Adeleke’s administration, saying he was unimpressed by the governor’s performance.

“What I saw in Adeleke’s leadership is that the guy is not even in control of his government,” Sowore said.

He added: “What I know behind the scenes is… I heard that Adeleke’s sister is the one running the state. And his elder brother, who is Davido’s father, also. So it’s a family, pretty much, running the state.”

Sowore did not provide evidence during the interview to substantiate the claim about the alleged control of the state government by Adeleke’s siblings.

The activist also said he was “appalled” by the governor’s performance after watching his appearance at an Arise TV town hall.

His comments come amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and aspirants increasingly scrutinising the performance of state governors and other public officials.

Governor Adeleke, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022, has continued to face criticism from opposition figures over his administration, while his supporters have highlighted projects and policies implemented under his leadership.

Sowore is expected to contest the 2027 presidential election on the AAC platform as political parties begin preparations for the next electoral cycle.
