Residents of the Special Site community in Pankshin Local Government Area were thrown into shock on Thursday following the discovery of the bodies of aborted twin babies in a refuse dump.

Eyewitnesses reported that the twins—a male and a female—were found in a polythene bag in the early hours of the day after being dumped by unknown individuals.

A local resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said the remains were discovered behind the house of a taxi driver identified as Enman Danladi. Danladi recounted that the unsettling discovery was made after a local farmer noticed a dog sniffing at the bag, which was swarming with flies.

“When the farmer drove the dog away and opened the bag, he found the aborted twins inside. He immediately raised the alarm,” Danladi said.

He added that he quickly gathered neighbours, and together they dug a small grave at the site to bury the remains.

Danladi described the scene as heartbreaking. “It was a pathetic sight. Women were crying while the men expressed anger and cursed whoever was responsible. One woman who had struggled with infertility was crying uncontrollably,” he said.

He further noted that such acts are often carried out by outsiders, making it difficult for the community to trace those responsible.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who are calling for urgent investigation and stricter measures to prevent such occurrences in the community.
