Troops rescue kidnapped couple after gun battle with bandits in Kaduna

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have rescued a kidnapped couple after engaging their abductors in a gun battle in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The victims, identified as Hassan Isah and his wife, Juliana Hassan, were rescued after troops responded to a distress report concerning their abduction in Ateli village.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Troops deployed at Mayir Garrison, working alongside local vigilantes, reportedly launched a pursuit of the kidnappers after receiving information about the abduction.

The security forces later made contact with the fleeing gang, resulting in a gun battle.

During the encounter, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned the couple and fled into the surrounding area, allowing the troops to rescue the victims.

Isah sustained injuries during the operation and was subsequently evacuated to General Hospital, Wamba, for medical treatment.

Security forces have continued efforts to track the fleeing kidnappers, while troops remain deployed in the area to prevent further attacks and protect residents.

The operation comes amid continued security challenges involving kidnapping and banditry in parts of Kaduna State.
