Buhari seeks regional cooperation, information against violent extremism
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday emphasised the need to exploit interregional cooperation and information sharing as tools to tackling terrorism and violent extremism across the world.
Speaking with the Jordanian President King Abdullah II, in Aqaba, Buhari noted that these two factors are important in checkmating the threat of violent extremism to global peace and security.
While thanking the Jordanian King for the military support Nigeria has enjoyed with the recent donation of armoured vehicles and other military equipment to fight terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria, sought for improved assistance to fight global terrorism.
On his part, King Abdullah II reiterated the need to broaden measures to tackle cyber security and overbearing influence of terrorists.
President Buhari, however, pledged the continued support of Jordan to Nigeria in its war against violent extremism.
It was gathered that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, said Nigeria and Jordan would co-host the counter-terrorism summit on December 3.
