Taraba Feb.10 Mayhem: DHQ says it can’t help
The Defence Headquarters has responded to the alarm Taraba Gov. Darius Ishiaku raised over a February 10 attack some invaders planned to carry out in the state.
Acting Director of Defence Information insisted on Thursday the military to prevent such attacks said, the military is not the first line of defence
“The Governor of Taraba State, if he has information of any such planned or impending attack, should get in touch with the police authorities who are in charge of internal security.
“If he feels the situation cannot be handled by the police, he should get in touch with the President and commander- in-Chief. The military on its own cannot just move into a place without an order.
According to the information officer, the military is the last line of defence.
“So the question as to what the military is doing to checkmate the alleged planned invasion does not arise.”
Gov. Ishiaku told the visiting chairman of his party PDP that he got some security report that attackers suspected to be herdsmen are going to unleash terror in the state in 10 days’ time.
