Buni subdues Bello, cancels APC NEC emergency meeting scheduled for Thursday
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has subdued Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State in the aftermath of the failed coup to takeover the APC leadership in the absence of Buni.
Governor Buni, accordingly, ordered the cancellation of the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) emergency meeting scheduled for Thursday.
The National Secretary of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), John James Akpanudoedehe, in a statement on Wednesday night declared: “As directed by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning (CECPC) and Governor of Yobe State, H.E. Mai Mala Buni, a purported emergency meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) slated for Thursday, March 17, 2022, is hereby cancelled.” Akpanudoedehe did not give further details.
President Muhammadu Buhari had after consultations directed Governor Buni to lead the party to the national convention for the election of members of the National Working Committee (NWC) scheduled for March 26.
