Covid Organics delivered; Buhari rejects use
As the consignment of Malagasy Covid-19 Organics arrived Nigeria. Presidet Muhammadu Buhari stated categorically he will not approve any carte blanche use of the medicine.
He told Guinea Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló who brought the product to Nigeria’s state house on Saturday, according to presidential aide Bashir Ahmad.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has received the Madagascan native formulation against the COVID–19 pandemic and reiterated that he will listen to science before allowing traditional or any new medicines to be administered on Nigerians,” Ahmad tweeted.
Buhari explained the processes of Nigerian institutions nd systems in charge of such issues.
“I will not put it to use without the endorsement of these institutions,” said Buhari.
The federal government had been criticized for not considering its own native remedies, and opting for the potion which Madagascar says it’s effective in managing the viral infection which has affected more than three million people world-wide.
But the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, said Madagascar was on a bazaar, and was distributing the organics across Africa.
Nigeria’s lot had to come en-route from Guinea Bissau.
“We‘re supposed to make arrangements to freight Nigeria’s allocation from Guinea Bissau; it‘ll be subjected to the standard validation process for pharmaceuticals, he said.
Tanzania and other African countries have also received their freight of the medicine proclaimed as the African cure for coronavirus.
