Dangote, Otedola, serving governors, former ones, others hold secret meeting in Lagos
A series of clandestine meeting has been going on at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, and the mix of Nigerians in attendance between Thursday and Saturday has provoked curiosity.
What further raises concern is the deliberate silence of the participants in the media and elsewhere.
But whatever brought a bunch of PDP’s governors, their APC counterparts, incumbent and erstwhile, from across the nation, together with Nigeria’s top moneybags, including the world’s richest black man Aliko Dangote, philanthropist, Femi Otedola, representatives from 36 states, and a minister—whatever it was, many aware of the meeting said, had to be strategic.
On the front burner in Nigeria now is the 2023 presidential election, the state of insecurity, and the economy.
In the absence of concrete iformation from the organisers, a top-notch publisher based in Lagos and one other person, the media have been awash with speculations on issues ranging from presidential ticket zoning, big businesses taking sides, and others.
Present at the meeting were Governors Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti State), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Professor Babagana Zulum, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and PDP presidential aspirant, Pius Anyim, Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, ex-governors Ibikunle Amosun, Olusegun Osoba, Niyi Adebayo and others were said to be in attendance.
