Edo partners social media influencers in fight against cultism
Edo State Government has charged the Association of Social Media Influencers (ASMI) to join the government’s effort in the fight against the menace of cultism in the State.
The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare who gave the charge while playing host to social media Influencers in the Ministry’s premises in Benin City, noted that social media Influencers have a key role to play in sensitizing Edo residents, especially the youths against the menace of cultism while decrying the spate of cult clashes in the State.

He stated that the State Government has set out Monday 11th, September 2023, as a day to draw awareness and sensitize the populace especially the youths on the ills of cultism, calling on social media influencers across the State and those in diaspora to write a short story on the dangers of cultism with the hashtag #StopCultismNow.
Mr. Nehikhare further sued for the collaboration of ASMI in promoting the activities and programs of the Government to both local and international audiences.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Omorogie Aimienye while congratulating the Commissioner on his reappointment noted that the Association would promote indigenous brands and also help the government in publicizing its programs and activities.
