Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has declared that any herdsman carrying AK-47 is a criminal. The governor pointed out that no genuine herdsman grazes cattle with AK-47.
Governor Akeredolu, hosting the participants of Course 30 of the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja, led by the Commandant, Rear Admiral Oladele Daji, at the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Akure, insisted that any herdsman that destroys any farmland in Ondo State would be made to pay compensation to the affected farmer.

The Governor emphasized that Amotekun Corps is a child of circumstance, essentially established to fill the security gap in Ondo State for the security of all.
Akeredolu disclosed that the efforts of Amotekun, in collaboration with the assistance of other security agencies have brought relative peace to the state
The governor further disclosed that Amotekun Corps now engage in road patrol to further ensure the security of lives and property of all residents across the state.
Akeredolu emphasized many states in the country have signed Anti-Open Grazing laws to protect the people and their means of livelihood.
The governor reiterated that the revival of grazing routes would not work in Nigeria, stating that the country can no longer continue to live in the past.
The Commandant of the National Defence College, Abuja, Rear Admiral Oladele Daji, had commended Governor Akeredolu for the security and industrial achievements recorded in the state so far.
