Kaduna 2023: 1 key reason the PDP may return to power
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was the dominant political force in Kaduna State between 1999 and 2015. At the time, governors included Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Arc. Namadi Sambo, Patrick Yakowa (late), and Mukhtar Yero. After losing control of the state to the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 general elections, the PDP regained control in 2017. (APC). In 2019, the ruling party retained control of the government. Although much has changed in Kaduna State’s political landscape in recent months, there is still much to be optimistic about.
It appears that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is losing ground in the state lately. Although it is not breaking news, the fact that the state recently held local government elections is. However, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) lost control of some local government areas, including Kaura, Kajuru, and Zango Kataf, to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), despite winning a majority of chairmanship and councillorship positions (PDP). In the local government areas (LGAs) mentioned above, the opposing party also won a majority of the councillorship positions. Undoubtedly, with the PDP steadily regaining control at the grassroots level, the state’s upcoming 2023 gubernatorial election would be an easy victory for the party.
