NCC to address technology’s impact on youth at 2024 NAN press week
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will tackle the challenges posed by modern technology on youth during the 2024 News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Press Week, scheduled from September 23rd to 27th at the Multi-purpose Media Centre.
The event, themed “The Role of Journalism in Addressing the Impact, Opportunities, and Challenges of Modern Technology on Youths,” aims to highlight the effects of technological advancements on young Nigerians.
Mr. Yemi Adeleye, Assistant Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) NAN Lagos Chapel, announced the event, emphasizing the importance of journalism in addressing societal issues, particularly in a fast-evolving technological world.
The week-long event will feature activities such as a Walk for Fitness, Cultural Day, a Public Lecture, and visits to an orphanage and old home.

Adeleye stressed the need to examine the benefits and drawbacks of modern Information Communication Technologies (ICT), noting their significant impact on youth.
He reaffirmed the union’s commitment to promoting a free press that supports developmental journalism and combats fake news and sensationalism.
Notable speakers at the event include Dr. Segun Musa, Chairman of Global Transport Policy, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, and Malam Ali Mohammed Ali, Managing Director of NAN.
The event will foster discussions on the intersection of technology and youth, underscoring journalism’s role in shaping public discourse and addressing global challenges.
