Ortom commends Buhari for rejecting Electoral Amendment Bill
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for declining assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill over the insertion of the controversial direct primaries imposed by the National Assembly on political parties for the nomination of candidates for elections.
Governor Ortom, however, enjoined President Buhari to adopt a similar decision pattern in handling the various crises in the country like economy and insecurity.
The Benue Governor urged the National Assembly to delete the controversial clause on direct primaries in order for political parties to choose the process of primaries in nominating candidates for elections.
Ortom affirmed his commitment to commending President Buhari’s policies which promote national interest and criticizing policies that instigate disunity and injustice.
